Can an offer of part time work be considered a suitable alternative?
I had my first consultation yesterday and I have been offered a 15 hour role that I am currently seconded to. I am currently employed full time. Now whilst some job is better than no job, I was disconcerted to be told that if I turned down this role I would lose that portion of my redundancy entitlement or approximately 2/5.
I do work for an advice agency and I am aware that you can lose entitlement to redundancy payments if you turn down an offer of suitable employment, but I had not realised that they could use a part time job offer to diminish my redundancy pay.
So I'm feeling a little abused and I could do with knowing if my employer is action correctly before I go stamping my feet so-to-speak.

You are being abused! A part-time job is not a suitable alternative and cannot be deemed to be so. Turning one down does not have any impact on your redundancy payments. Stamp away - although I think you may look a little childish, so just tell them to shove their "advice"!!!
