I am in a second redundancy consultation tomorrow and am a bit concerned that the people interviewing me are not qualified to do so.
I was under the impression that a company director or personel manager should be involved, but it seems not. One of the people is a chap who was in charge of a production department who was given a new post of Quality and Discipline Manager two months ago. He has been involved in the calculation of points for selection and I have been given some very low marks,(in my opinion), which I shall be querying.
As far as I am aware he has no qualifications or had any training in this department.
I feel that I should demand that a director be present but don't know how I stand legally.
Sorry that this is very short notice but everything seems to have moved very quickly.

There is no legal requirement for a director or HR person to conduct interviews for a redundancy consultation, or that the person have specific training or qualifications.
What is your concern about the person interviewing you? Do you think he has reason to be prejudiced against you in some way, or to mark you unfairly for some reason?

Thanks for your response. I have been in the meeting this morning and asked whether he was qualified to be there and was told he was.
As for the points I was worried that he had been told to mark me low, I asked this, and was assured that this was not the case.
I did query the low marks and have got them amended , not enough to make "me safe", but am happier about the situation now.
