Redundancy and return of company car

Hi there - my employer has intimated that they require the company car returning to their office (over 250 miles from my home) - there's no specific term in my employment contract - other than a general note in relation to 'deliver all property - mainly intellectual' but no mention of the car. Can they enforce or insist or am I within my rights to confirm that the car will be made available for they action after the 10th Oct 10 (a Sunday) this being my last day of work - according to the latest correspondence.

It would be normal to expect employees to return company property - I would suggest that this is one that you need to negotiate. Is there a nearer office, or would they pay for your trip back home?

Hi SarEl - many thanks for your response - agreed - I'll try an negoiate this one - I had offerred to deliver the car on tues 12/10/10 - as I have an exam on monday 11/10/10 - but they pointed out the car should be returned on or before the 10/10/10.
I'll offer the car up for collection prior to 10/10/10 - say thurs or fri the week and see how that goes - once again many thanks NB
