Default Made redundant without any notice or pay

I really need some help, I was made redundent from my job without any prior warning I was just sent a letter in the post saying that they were letting me go as they need to fund another position they are creating , in which they outlined some of the responsibilities of the new position as what I used to do. They said in the letter they had tried to contact me on my mobile but it was not going through, yet I know that I have had not problems with my phone. I have been working there for just over two years and received no redundency pay. They have offered me another job that is not the same hours and is not on a consistant basis, it is basically a stand in role for when the other individual is absent, they have also offered me training which I believe is unpaid. I was having problems with my employer before and when I phoned them they have stated that the reason for me being made redundent has nothing to do with previous issues. I have no idea what to do now and I would like to know my options. One final thing I would like to note is the fact that they never gave me a contract even though my fellow employees had one. Also I am the only person they made redundant The company is a registered charity and a registered company limited by guarentee

How could they have been trying to contact you by phone - were you not in work? On the face of it this may be an unfair dismissal, but I am perplexed about why they could not tell you face to face if you were in work. On what basis did you work - hours, every week, or what. As much detail as possible please.

I am a student and work on weekends, this position is term time only, so they said they were trying to contact me when I was off

I'm sorry but there isn't enough information here to be sure of anything. Some forms of term time employment may not give rise to continuous employment no matter how long you work there, and you are classed as a casual worker on a term by term basis only. We would need more information to advise you.
