I am facing a redundancy. I have been with my current employer for more than
1 year but less than 2 years permanent. I have been told that because I haven't been working for 2 years there is not entitlement. I just cant believe that.

entitlement to redundancy when employed for 1 year?

Entitlement Regretfully no one is entitled to statutory redundancy pay who does not have 2 years continuous service. However, the Company has to follow the statutory redundancy process regardless and after consultation has to give you your statutory/contractual notice or pay you that in lieu.
However, you state that you have been with your current employer less than 2 years permanently. Does this mean you were with them as a temp? If so, it might mean that your continuous service should have been from the day you started as a temp, but without sight of your contract or full details, it is hard to advise further on this.
During consultation I would ensure that you raise this and also ensure they follow the correct procedure.
