Hi
We are currently going though our 90 day consultation period. The company we are working for is closing down. In my case I have worked ten years for the company and should receive ten weeks notice. If within this 10 weeks notice which at the moment the company is asking as to work I find another job and give may four weeks notice(which is in my contract) will I be intitled for my full statutory redundancy package.
Thanks for your help

Notice Period You didn't say when the Company is closing down as this makes a bit of difference to my answer.
However, normally notice does not come into effect until the consultation has been fiallised unless there are agreements that vary this and when the Company is closing.
Therefore to answer your query is difficult without further information.
With regards to your query, this is something that should be brought up during consultations. Some companies have a cut off point that say if you leave before that cut off date then it is deemed that you have left and you have no entitlement (this is in the redundancy legislation). After that cut off date then they can agree that you get your redundancy pay, notice pay again is something that needs to be discussed in consultations.
A lot of companies are flexible in such situations as they want their employees to secure positions and therefore sometimes if it is agreed that the work they do can be assigned to someone else during the close down period, then they agree such arrangements for people who want to leave before the actual closure date. Again, this is something that should be discussed and informed to you about during consultations as each situation with each company is different.
Normally during redundancy all such queries have been thought through prior to consultation and therefore should be in documentation to you.
I am sorry that I cannot be more specific.
You can call Acas, your local Citizens Advice Bureau with the information to hand and ask them again that question once you have raised it with your representatives or if no elected representatives then with your manager or HR department if you have one.
Hope this has helped.
