Hope someone can advise please
Company has undergone a restructure and 650 jobs to go through redundancy's.
During consultation i was informed there would be 2 scenarios - 1) Role would be eliminated option would be compulsory redundancy or apply for another job within company.
2) Pooled group with colleagues of a similar role and able to apply for voluntary redundancy.
I have since established my role is not existant within the new structure yet i was told i would be pooled, this is contradictory to information i have recieved through consultation. I questioned this and was told a decision was made by my senior to pool me and several other colleagues in the same position with colleagues in a very different role to give us the choice whether to stay or go rather than have CR. I was concerned by this as it meant that should i be unsuccesful with my application for VR then i would be left in a role which i am not competent to do and is very different from my current role.
I applied for VR as wanted to leave however this was declined due to pool being over subscribed.
I have now submitted an appeal based on the fact that the consultation stated the option for eliminated roles however this seemed to have been changed to suit my manager?
I would like advice on whether anyone thinks i have a chance to have this decline overturned and able to take VR or CR and what action i should take?
Thanks

Appeal against redundancy decline

Your employer is under an obligation to try and avoid making you redundant if possible, and it sounds as though they are doing that. They are under no obligation to give anyone voluntary redundancy.
If your role is redundant and you are offered an alternative, you won't be entitled to redundancy unless the alternative is not suitable. So if you feel the new job isn't suitable, in terms of your skills, experience, seniority etc, then you can say so and may well still get your redundancy. But if the role is available and is broadly suitable for you, you won't get redundancy.
