Hi,
Thank you for reading this post. My company(who I was with as a full time employee for 5 years) went into administration but another company took over all our contracts and myself in the same office doing exactly the same job, same salary etc, but made me sign a new contract with them.
They have now decided to close down the office as well. As I was with my previous company for 5 years and this new one for 1 year, am I entitled to 6 years redundancy pay?
Thanks in advance
Brettf

If your employment was taken over by a new company your terms and conditions and length of service should have been protected, so yes you will be entitled to 6 years' redundancy pay.
You can check the most recent contract, it should give your first start date as the date from when continuous service has been calculated.

Thank you and a question! Thank for taking time out to reply to my question. They are trying to wriggle out of this by saying that there new contract I signed says "your period of employment with xxxxxx will commence on/commenced on 1st april 2009. This is also the date of commencement of your continuous service with......
They are saying that they owe me nothing. This surely not correct is it?
