    Default Redundancy

    Hi all,

I'm a plasterer in Cardiff who has recently been made redundant. I've heard about the possibility of funding towards training from the government. Can anyone tell me anything about this? I'm interested in learning to become a Painter and Decorator as I think I can get more work on in this industry.

Has anyone here been made redundant recently? What did you do?Did you get any funding?Or look for another job straight away?

    Cheers guys

Redundancy is the Employment Rights Act 1996 (ERA), which states that an employee is dismissed by reason of redundancy if the dismissal is wholly or mainly:
    A. The fact that his employer has ceased, or intends to cease to carry on business for which the employee worked, or has ceased or intends to cease, or activities in which the employee was employed.
    B. The fact that requirements for employees of companies can do the work of its kind in a place where the employee worked in have ceased or diminished or are expected to decline.
