    Default Statutory Trial Period Notice

I have taken up an offer from my company of a trial transfer rather than redundancy, I realise that the statutory trial period is 4 weeks, however I would like to know how much notice you need to give if you choose not to carry on once the trial period has ended and whether you have to justify any decision.

Also I am currently off work sick due to a work related injury, I have doctors certificates so everything is legit. My personal view is that any trial transfer would not start until I was actually back at work as how would I trial it being at home sick? However my company have stated that this is not what they think and that the trial transfer has already started and I would appreciate some advise on whether this is legal?

    Many thanks.

Hi there, I've flagged this question to our advisors and one will be along shortly to offer advice.

Just to update this, on the 18th I got a letter stating that they would start the trial period on the 22nd Sept, then on the 25th Sept I got a letter stating that they were making me redundant and back dating it to the 31 Aug due to me being off sick and therefore "not viable".
