My Organisation want to make all of the non management staff (4 of us)redundant (compulsary) at my place of work, the management will relocate to the head office 300 miles away. The reason they are giving is that there is medium term management shortage at head office. They acknowledge there is still a job to be done at my place of work, and they intend to return periodically with non management staff (doing the same duties that we perform) to finish the job, surely they cant do this?
It was always my understanding that in order to make an employee redundant, the employer must cease to carry on the business in which it employs people there. The amount of work has not changed, and it cant be done by fewer people. Any advise or thoughts would be great, CHEERS!
