Length of Service We are at present being consulted on redudancy , there are 8 of us at risk and 2 will go , tyhey have included legth of service as a criterai which is I know still allowed , but among the group it makes it unfair as 2 of us have been there less tahn 2 years and the rest have been their 6 + years which makes it almost impossible for those of us withi only 2 years service to avoid redundancy - is this allowed.

Thank you for your message.
Length of service is a fair and legitimate criteria which your employer can use, alongside other criteria, to make a fair selection from a selection pool.
Length of service is a fair indicator of loyalty and experience which are qualities that your employer would be measuring with the inclusion of this criteria.Clara Buckingham
