Hi
I've been asked to attend a meeting tomorrow to be told I'm at risk of redundancy from a professional services organisation of several thousand employees.
There has been no broadcast news of a redundancy programme, so I assume I am an individual case (or one of a small number), due to a down-turn in company business. (I have not been on a fee paying assignment for over 3 months).
I've been employed for ~10 years, am over 45 and would be reasonably happy to leave the organisation on redundancy grounds.
I've explored various websites but remain confused as to whether a meeting (& presumably formal letter) advising me of "risk of redundancy" is the same thing as "notice of redundancy".
I understand that for the latter I would be entitled to 10 weeks notice.
If the employer informs me of "Risk of redundancy" or gives me "Formal notice of redundancy" (if this is different) can they subsequently revoke that during my notice period & oblige me to remain working for them?
If they offer alternative employment in a different site (over 100 miles away) can I reasonably refuse that on location grounds.
thanks in advance.
