    Default Request for voluntary redundancy

Our college has just merged and undergone a major restructure. My previous post was Assistant Quality Manager. Our current Quality manager has opted to take VR, I was ringfenced for his post but was not shortlisted and the post went external, this has now been filled.

A less senior post of Quality, Performance & Standards Team Leader was also ringfenced for me. A job description and person specification was devised, I completed the application form and submitted a portfolio of evidence, I was skills matched against the specification and interviewed. I was offered the job which I verbally accepted, this was 3 weeks ago.

I have since decided that I do not wish to take up the post. The new post is paid at £3000 a year less than my current salary.

I have made a request for VR but have been refused for 2 reasons.

    1) They cannot fill the new post internally so would have to advertise outside
    2) The skills matching process mapped very much against my old post therefore I am not eligible for VR.

    Any suggestions please.

    Hi

Are you currently under redundancy consultation? I'm sorry if I haven't understood your post correctly. What has happened to your current position? I am going to presume that you are in consultation but please correct me if I am incorrect.

If the position that you have been offered is 3k less per year you could argue that the alternative employment isn't suitable on the grounds that there is a pay difference.
