    Default structured scoring point system

    Hi,
I'm new to HR and unfortunately we're making redundancies and so have been asked to come up with a structured scoring system - have no idea where to start!
I've check ACAS and understand the criteria I can use but not how to actually score...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A scoring mechanism is entirely up to the employer, so you won't really find much guidance on it. You allocate a set number of points to specifc criteria, and you need a transparent explanation of how to score (so that everyone is treated the same). There may be factors that are considered more "valuable" so you can weight these (x1.5 or x2 for example) to reflect their higher importance. And no disrespect here, but somebody new to HR with no experience of doing this should not be doing it - the employer can land in a lot of trouble if they get it wrong, very costly trouble, so it should be done by someone with some experience of the work.

    hi thanks for the advice.
And rest assured I'm not doing it on my own I'm doing it with someone who has done it before (although to gain experience you have to do it at some point right!).
    Thanks!

Hi - well I feel better that someone knows what they are doing! Believe me, it wasn't anything personal - just that I see too many avoidable ****-ups!
