    Default What is Redundancy?

Are you facing redundancy or have you been made redundant? Do you know your rights and entitlements or the redundancy process?

In redundancy, posts rather than people are made redundant and you’ll be dismissed from employment. You will be entitled to a redundancy payment if you have been dismissed after 2 or more years of continuous service for reasons including:

    • Your job has been made obsolete by new technology
    • Your position no longer exists within the company
    • The number of employees is to be reduced to cut costs
    • The company is closing down or moving the business

If your employer is to move location, perhaps to merge with another business or to bigger premises, you also have rights and obligations. Find out more about your rights if your employer moves location.
